According to latest reports from Times of India there is growing resentment in America against Pakistan and two influential law makers Congressman Ted Poe from Texas, who is the Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Terrorism, and Congressman Dana Rohrabacher of California, who also happens to be a vocal supporter of the the Baloch cause want to designate Pakistan as a state sponsor of terrorism. This could not have come at a worst time when its Prime Minister is just about to address the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York under the cloud of recent terror attempt by an Afghan who was radicalized in Pakistan.

The bill, H.R 6069 or the Pakistan State Sponsor of Terrorism Designation Act, could be implemented within four months of its passage. But in reality this may not happen since this is an election year and this could just be a slap on the wrist to Pakistan so they might act against terror networks operating in Afghanistan. However the bill was moved by Congressman Ted Poe from Texas, and Congressman Dana Rohrabacher of California could spell doom for a already isolated Pakistan and to top Congressman Dana Rohrabacher is also a strong votary of the Balochistan cause which the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had raised during the independence day speech.

Congressmen Poe in a statement said ”Not only is Pakistan an untrustworthy ally, Islamabad has also aided and abetted enemies of the United States for years. From harboring Osama bin Laden + to its cozy relationship with the Haqqani network+, there is more than enough evidence to determine whose side Pakistan is on in the War on Terror. And it’s not America’s.” He further added ”It is time we stop paying Pakistan for its betrayal and designate it for what it is: a state sponsor of terrorism and Pakistan’s reckless behavior in this regard is a serious security risk to its neighbors – and India unfortunately pays the price all too often. We condemn this tragic attack, as well as Pakistan’s support for many criminals like the ones who carried it out, and stand firm in our commitment to our friends in India.”

There is growing sympathy for India in the power corridors of Washington D.C and many influential politicians are expressing their anguish of the latest terror attack carried out by Pakistan near the Line of Control in the Uri sector in Kashmir where eighteen Indian soldiers had been killed on a very meticulously planned terror strike right before PM Nawaz Sharif went to America to address the UNGA. Since 9/11 America has given Pakistan over thirty bullion dollars and in return expected it would reign in terror groups like Lashkar e Taiba and the Taliban who have been responsible for the death of thousands of civilians and also American troops fighting in Afghanistan.
