With no cover at the annual UNGA Pakistan might strike a Conciliatory note with India

According to latest from Press Trust of India Pakistan’s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has held a telephonic conversation with Pakistan’s powerful army chief General Raheel Sharif to finalize his speech at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in which he will raise the Kashmir issue as usual but with absolutely no diplomatic cover it is being strongly suggested that he may tone down his rhetoric to reduce tensions with India. According to a senior Pakistani Official ‘The prime minister might strike a balance in his speech. He would talk about the Indian atrocities in Kashmir but also would be conciliatory to end tension.”

This roll back on all the rhetoric has been attributed to the fact that leading Congressmen Ted Poe from Texas, who is the Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Terrorism, and Congressman Dana Rohrabacher of California wants to designate Pakistan as a terror Sponsor state. Plus leaders of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) have openly spoken against the latest terror attack that was carried out in the Uri sector in Kashmir where eighteen soldiers of the Indian Army were killed in a planned terror strike. This will a very difficult balancing act for Pakistan because they not only face direct threat in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) but the forgotten struggle of the people of Balochistan and the atrocity committed by Pakistan stands to be exposed.

The effort to raise the Kashmir issue has again fallen in dead ears but the effort to call itself as a victim of terrorism is also not getting any buyers. For the last two years there has been a systematic and concerted effort on the part of the Narendra Modi government to isolate Pakistan and right now it is totally working. Even after Pathankot attack India showed restraint but the dastardly terror attack in Uri Sector of Kashmir could be the final straw because the Indian Army commanders have been given operational freedom to deal with Pakistan which will change the current dynamics.
