According to latest reports from Times of India, America is going to give 532 million dollars in aid to Pakistan for its commitment to fighting Al Qaeda, Talban and Lashkar-e-Taiba. The aid is called the Enhanced Partnership with Pakistan Act of 2009 also known as the Kerry-Lugar Bill and it means that by giving this aid Pakistan has taken certified action against terror elements and now will receive 532 million dollars for economic growth, community building and counter-terrorism efforts, American envoy to Pakistan Richard Olson said.
The aid given to Pakistan before the visit of President Barack Obama who is the chief guest on 26th January which will be our 65th Republic Day celebration would certainly ruffle some feather in the Indian Establishment and make matter complex for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. But the question which everyone in India and in America are asking is this, when will Pakistan stop distinguishing between good terrorist and bad terrorists. It was former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton who said to Pakistan that “by breeding snakes one cannot expect it to just bite the neighbor.”
On the one hand there is a 10 million bounty on the head of Hafiz Saeed but he travels freely all across Pakistan and propagates violence and Jihad against India also 1993 Mumbai bomb blast accused Dawood Ibrahim lives freely in Karachi. How can America can talk about closer economic, political and military ties with India when it gives money to a country which actively promotes terrorism in India as matter of state policy.
