WHITE COP IN FERGUSON ESCAPES GRAND JURY INDICTMENT

A grand jury decided not to indict a Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson who had fatally shot Michael Brown, the unarmed, black 18-year-old teenager which led to tension between many African-Americans and police according to the Associated Press. On August 9 this year in the town of Ferguson in the state of Missouri 18 year old Michael Brown was shot dead by white police officer and this had led to serious protest from the black community. Since August several African Americans have been shot and the latest was the killing of a 12 year old boy who had with him a hand gun which looked real.

However what happened in Ferguson really hit the nerve of an embattled black community which for years have faced persecution and had to suffer the indignity of racism. Not long ago a 14 year old black kid was gunned down in Florida and the man who shot him George Zimmerman was found not guilty of killing him. The killing of Michael Brown led the Hands Up movement all across America and now since the Grand Jury has decided not to indict already tension has flared up in the state of Missouri and now there is rioting and cars and building are burning.

Meanwhile President Barack Obama addressing the nation has asked people to remain calm and not engage in violence and peaceful protest is the way to go and said “Michael Brown’s parents have lost more than anyone, we should be honoring their wishes”. He also said that there is a problem of racial tension in Ferguson. However none of this will work today and the growing anger towards how black people are treated in America by the police has now poured into the streets and this could lead to rioting in other parts of the country.
