Analyst have always said that the Modi government will have look East Policy and the upcoming trip to Japan on 1st September will mark a new beginning between India and Japan civilian nuclear deal and other geo-political issues will also be on the agenda.
According to NDTV, Tokyo is sending top diplomat Shinsuke Sugiyama to New Delhi next week for meetings with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval to iron out any details which are missing. This will be Prime Minister Modi’s first official major visit to one of the most influential countries and then he will on his way to meet the Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbot because Australia is a very important player in the nuclear suppliers group.
But the civilian nuclear deal still has lot of hurdles to cross, as Japan has put few riders which India has to agree with regards to testing nuclear weapons. But India had already stated there is a permanent moratorium on nuclear testing and the foreign ministry made it very that “India is ready to sign the agreement and it is for Japan to sort out its internal issues.”
This meeting between Modi and Shinzo Abe will be a major step in boosting economic and security ties between both countries and the growing hegemony of China in Asia Pacific would also probably discussed.
