Maharashtra Government No to Probe Against PK

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today denied any probe by the police to look into the content of Aamir Khan’s film PK which seems to have ignited religious fervor with right wing Hindu groups because the film offends religious sentiments according to latest reports from Press Trust of India. Reports of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis that he had asked for such an inquiry provoked sharp criticism but now it is very clear that the Maharashtra Head of State will remain firm with the censor board decision and not give orders to probe this film directed by Raj Kumar Hirani.

Mr Fadnavis said “Censor board cleared film, no question of not letting it screen… Need to ensure screening continues without incident… Have to ensure law and order is maintained.” PK has already done business of over 250 crores at the box office making it one of the most successful films of 2014 but several Hindu Right Wing Groups which can be deemed as fringe elements have attacked cinema houses across the nations and tore the posters of this film. Even the Indian Supreme Court made it very clear that for those who are against this film have the choice of not watching it. In a statement, Mr Hirani said, “I appeal to the groups protesting against our film to see the film in totality and not just isolated scenes. Our intention is not to hurt anyone, or to discriminate against any religion.”

In the meanwhile Utter Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav declared that PK will run tax free in cinemas which means if the religious groups have given it a communal angle the Samajwadi Party (SP) has given it a political angle. The SP can now claim that it is a secular party but in reality if the sentiments of Muslims were hurt they would have demanded a ban. This is just a ploy to gain some political points.
