Too many leaks for the phone
This is not new for the Xiaomi Mi4! While the launch event for the new smartphone from Xiaomi was scheduled for 22nd of July, it was spotted online ahead of its launch, on a third party online shopping website, yet again. While the earlier listing of the smartphone tagged it as “out of stock” and the device was priced at $599 (approximately Rs. 36,000), it was again listed by retailer Oppomart. The latter listing features a “coming soon” tag for the device while pricing it at $499. Both the online listing talked about similar features, however, images in the former spotting looked more like ‘Photoshopped’, based on previous leaks.
The BIG Launch
Finally, the brand unveiled its latest flagship smartphone at an even held by the company itself. The launch event was called “The Journey of a Piece of Steel”. The Xiaomi Mi4 is priced at around 19,400 INR for the 16Gb model and approximately 24,200 INR for the 64GB model. The brand announced a 4G-enable version of the phone that will be available outside China by the month of September.
Exclusive Looks, Stunning Display and Impressive Camera
Claimed by the brand as the “fastest Mi phone ever”, the Mi4 is evidently an upgraded version of the Mi3. The new Xiaomi Mi4 comes in classic colors – Black and White. The first thing that strikes about the phone is its classy and chic appeal. Already known as “China’s Apple”, the brand has managed to put forth a phone that looks just as sleek as an iPhone. A stainless steel metal frame which undergoes “40 processes and 193 steps” is what you will hold when you carry a Xiaomi Mi4! The phone carries minimalistic branding, both at the front and the rear. While the rear panel carries a snapper, on the front dwell three capacitive navigation keys, a front cam and the sensors. The volume rocker followed by the power button resides on the right edge of the phone.
The Xiaomi Mi4 sports a similar display as found in its predecessor. A 5 inch full-HD display greets the user with a resolution of 1080×1920 pixels, translating to pixel density of a whopping 441 ppi. While the Mi4 came with a Corning Gorilla Glass, the brand opted for a JDI OGS full lamination display for the Mi4.
The rear snapper on the new Xiaomi Mi4 is a 13 megapixel excellence combined with Sony’s stacked CMOS sensors. Don’t be amazed yet! The front camera experience on this amazing phone mates the same Sony CMOS sensor with an 8 megapixel camera thereby promising stunning selfies for all selfie-lovers out there.
Upgraded Performance – Promised
The new Xiaomi Mi4 is powered by a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor mated to 3GB of RAM. Also, the smartphone is backed up by a 3,800mAh Li-ion battery.
Along with the launch of Mi4, the brand announced its new UI version – MIUI 6 which is to launch on August 16 and in all hopes, will be running on the Xiaomi Mi4
