The Chinese handset maker Oppo, after much teasing about its new smartphone, has now made the N1 Mini official. While the Chinese market does not yet know the pricing, the Oppo N1 Mini was launched in India on June 10 and went on sale on June 11. The elder sibling of the phone, Oppo N1 set its feet in the Indian market earlier this year with a price tag of 39,999 INR. The expected best price of the Oppo N1 Mini is 25,699 INR. The Oppo N1 was a powerful package of feature and the N1 mini, though being a mini smartphone is expected to be an equally full featured phone.
The new Oppo N1 Mini is a weirdly designed phone. On the front, the outlined speaker grille and sensors might confuse the viewer as a large buttons usually available on the bottom of the display. The actual hard buttons available on the face of the phone – Options, Home and Back become the capacitive navigation keys. The design does not look catchy at all. But, there exists a plot twist. The odd looking design of the phone is because of the 13MP swivel camera that comes with it. More on that later! While the top edge houses the camera, the bottom edge becomes home to a headphone jack, Micro-USB port and audio speakers. The power button is located on the left edge of the phone. Weighing 150 grams, the Oppo N1 Mini is lighter than its predecessor.
The Oppo N1 Mini comes with a 5 inch, 720×1280 pixels IPS LCD display. Down than the full HD display of the Oppo N1, this smartphone still features a quite decent display.
Powered by 1.6 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, the phone boasts a 2GB RAM and integrated Adreno 305 graphics. 16 GB of in-built memory is appreciable. The smartphone boasts a 2140 mAh battery which is capable of providing decent stand by, for the Oppo N1 Mini runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. The OS becomes a setback but in all hope, the phone might get an update. Oppo N1 Mini features ColorOS 4.1 UI.
Scoring points on the connectivity front, the Oppo N1 Mini supports 4G and 3G and sports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and aGPS.
The 13MP camera bejeweling this smartphone can rotate up to 206 degrees and is the major highlight of the phone. Accompanies by dual LED flash and an Exmor-R CMOS image sensor, this camera can lock up at any angle and is perfect for both landscape photography and your selfies. The absence of a front cam doesn’t make a difference!
An unusual design, which might be loved by some, and quite some power make the Oppo N1 Mini an impressive and wholesome package. Being not-so-mini at 5.0 inch display, this smartphone greets the user with a fine video playback and gaming experience. The phone might be a hit because of its powerful configuration, affordable price and a rotating snapper. However, the brand value of the phone might affect the sales.
