On a bright sunny day in Sydney Australia a lone gunmen has taken over a dozen people as hostage as per latest reports from MSNBC. According to latest information five hostages have managed to escape and the entire area has been cordoned off. This incident has been a deemed as a matter of national security by Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott. PM Abbott said “This is obviously a deeply concerning incident but all Australians should be reassured that our law enforcement and security agencies are well trained and equipped and are responding in a thorough and professional manner.”
In the meanwhile Indian PM Narendra Modi has condemned this incident and on his official tweeter handle he said “The incident in Sydney is disturbing. Such acts are inhuman & deeply unfortunate. I pray for everyone’s safety.”
Just a while ago police in Sydney had carried out raids with regards to suspected beheadings to be carried out in behalf of the Islamic State or ISIS, ISIL or Daesh. All the hostages are being held in a very popular café in Sydney and it cannot be confirmed if the gunman belongs to any particular extremist group and the flag which was unfurled in the café did not belong to Daesh as it was misreported. Also the security around the visiting Indian cricket team has been increased who are scheduled to play a test match starting on 17th of November in Brisbane.
