Largest Arms Exporting Countries

Arms export is an industry worth tens and billions of dollars and the completion is cut throat. The United States of America and the erstwhile Soviet Union were the biggest suppliers of arms but now  Russia has still somehow  managed to  hold on to being one of the biggest supplier of military hardware. But this is a very big market and lot of hungry customers so as long as humans will fight each other the merchant of death will keep making the money.

This is a foregone conclusion and the US is still the number one supplier of weapons to countries like Israel, Saudi Arabia and most recently India which has purchased transport plane and Apache attack helicopters. Also they supply weapons to Saudi Arabia and Israel.

Even after the disintegration of the Soviet Union the factories which produced sophisticated weapons continued to produce some of the finest military hardware in the world. India is still its number one client because the Indian Air Force is primarily Russian Migs.

Well the Germans have always been very good when it comes to weapons development and with hard work and plenty of past experience have managed to become one of the leading providers of military hardware and with India is heavily involved in submarine development.

The French have produced some of the most high-tech weapons systems for various countries in the world. India purchased the Mirage 2000 fighter jets from them. And the government has agreed to go ahead with the purchase of 120 multi role fighter jets from France which will be one of the biggest arms purchase by India.

In the last 10 years China has gone leaps and bound to be a major weapons manufacturer and is now the primary source of military hardware for Pakistan military providing them with much needed JF17 fighter jets. They have taken full advantage of their economic might.

The UK used to be one of the most successful weapons producers in the world but with still competition has fallen behind. India used to be a major client but off late has relied upon other suppliers.

After splitting from the Soviet Union, Ukraine inherited a large chunk of weaponry and has since been selling tanks and other heavy military hardware all over the world.

Created in 1948, this country lives in a very tricky neighborhood and has to constantly improvise the military hardware which they had. In this process they also managed to create some of the finest weaponry.
