On the eve of 9/11 terror attack an event which has changed the world, President Barack Obama gave a speech in which he clearly said the Islamic State is a threat and must be destroyed. In the strongest term Mr. Obama stated that ISIS is a threat to the United States and will be hunted down in Iraq and even Syria according to Times of India.
Sounding presidential he said “”I have made it clear that we will hunt down terrorists who threaten our country, wherever they are,” he further added “that means I will not hesitate to take action against ISIL in Syria, as well as Iraq. This is a core principle of my presidency: if you threaten America, you will find no safe haven.” The ISIS has already killed two American journalists and the pressure on the Obama administration to take measure was growing.
Also he assured the Islamic world that this new action against ISIS is no way a direct threat to Muslims. In his speech he said it very clear “ISIS is not ‘Islamic’. No religion condones the killing of innocents. And the vast majority of ISIS’s victims have been Muslim. And ISIS is certainly not a state. It was formerly al-Qaida’s affiliate in Iraq. It is recognized by no government, nor by the people it subjugates. ISIS is a terrorist organization, pure and simple.”
This means the air strikes will now intensify and ISIS does not have the capability to shoot down American fighter jets. Also there will be ground forces on an advisory level because America does not want to get tangled in Iraq again. In his speech he told Americans that “It will take time to eradicate a cancer like ISIS. And any time we take military action, there are risks involved — especially to the servicemen and women who carry out these missions.” not mincing words he added “steady, relentless effort to take out ISIS wherever they exist, using our air power and our support for partner forces on the ground.” Which is why this will be a combined effort with NATO and America’s Middle Eastern partners like Saudi Arabia and Jordan.
