Two New York Police officers were shot and killed by a gunmen for the death of Eric Garner a African American who was choked to death just a couple of week ago and Michael Brown the teenager who was shot in Ferguson. The name of the man who shot the two police officers is Ismaaiyl Brinley and the name of the cops who were killed is Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos who were working overtime as part of an anti-terrorism drill in Bedford-Stuyvesant. New York Police commissioner William Bratton said “No warning, no provocation — they were quite simply assassinated, targeted for their uniform.”
The man who shot the two cops then turned the gun on himself nearby subway platform as cops closed in. This killing has been attributed to the growing manifestation of anger among African American communities and the fear which follows them whenever they step out of their house. Ismaaiyl Brinley on his instagram said I’m Putting Wings on Pigs Today,” a person believed to be the gunman wrote. “They Take 1 Of Ours . . . Let’s Take 2 of Theirs,” the post continued, ending with, “This May Be My Final Post.”
This was purely a premeditated killing of police officers and this would raise the tension between cops and African Americans. Officer Li was 32 and was married just only two months and had seven years on the force. Officer Ramos was 40 and a father of two sons and, had two years on the job.
