World’s Deadliest Cult Leaders

There have been men who have inspired millions and changed the world forever and then there are these sick and twisted Sociopaths who take advantage of gullible minds and use their skills as master manipulators and take full advantage. Of then the end result leads to death or utter financial ruin for many. The men who do such things are called cult leaders and at times they have cult following which is fanatical in nature and they will defend its leaders till death. These people believe in authoritarian control over people and their word is the law.

Over the years many these cult leaders who consider themselves as Prophets have brought pain and misery to scores of people who were just seeking some solace and guidance. These conmen take advantage of their emotional fragility and use them for their own advantage and agenda. Now let us take a look into some of the most notorious cult leaders who took self depravity to new levels with their sick, twisted and deluded minds. Whether they are alive or dead these men still have great sway and power even now.

Jim Jones

He is perhaps responsible for the death of more people by a cult leader then anyone. Jim Jones was the leader of the infamous “People’s temple and in 1978 he led nearly a thousand people to their deaths by mass suicide which included women and children. Also a serving US Congressmen Leo Ryan was there to rescue people was killed.

David Koresh

David Koresh

The Branch Davidians religious sect is an offshoot of disfellowshipped members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and in 1993 with reports of child abuse and other criminal violations the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the FBI raided the cult’s ranch. Unfortunately in this 51 day siege 75 people died in Waco Texas which led to major investigation over the handling of this incident by law enforcement authorities. David Koresh called himself a prophet and ensured the people in his congregation followed all his will. There were accusation of underage sex and statutory rape attributed to this man.

Marshall Applewhite

Marshall Applewhite

This man was the leader of Heaven’s Gate religious sect which committed mass suicide in 1997 because its leader Marshall Applewhite believed the approaching of Comet Hale–Bopp was accompanying spaceship. He really believed that the spaceship would take their spirits on board for a journey to another planet and asked his group members to commit mass suicide in their mansion.

Warren Jeffs

The Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (FLDS) is the cult founded by Rulon Jeffs which believes in polygamy and after his death his son Warren Jiffs aka Prophet had the privilege to take as many wives he pleased. He was particular in selecting underage girls to marry and when his father died he threatened senior FLDS members to keep their hands of his father’s wives and took most of them as his own. In the animal kingdom when males come of age they leave the group or thrown out to prevent incest, but in the case of FLDS young boys are thrown out because they pose a threat to older men and might take their women away. This man is in prison right now serving a life sentence for numerous sex crimes but even from his prison cell he still has significant power.

 Shoko Asahara

Shoko Asahara

Aum Shinrikyo, currently known as Aleph is Japanese cult headed by Shoko Asahara who was responsible for leaking deadly Sarin gas in a Tokyo subway which killed twelve people and injured over hundred people. Even today his cult is considered a terror threat because it has members all over the world and many of them are still fanatically follow him. Shoko Asahara is now in prison and has been sentenced to death.

Swami Premananda

Swami Premananda

India is a land known for mystics and saints and sometimes in the guise of being called saint sometimes there are predators on the prowl. Premananda was one such man who instead of helping people was involved in raping several women many of whom got pregnant by him and then had to forcibly get an abortion to cover his track. He was also charged with murder and was convicted and given life imprisonment and in 2011 died in prison.

Charles Manson

Charles Manson

His name has now become synonym with dysfunctional families.  He and his group of followers are responsible for several murders in Los Angeles in 1968 and they went on a killing spree which resulted in the brutal murder of Sharon Tate wife of acclaimed film director Roman Polanski and she was pregnant at that time of her murder. Charles Manson and his crew were arrested and sentenced to death but later as California banned death sentence Charles Manson still remains in prison. Just recently he married 26 year old women after getting his marriage license.
