Police Officer Killed In The Suspected Terrorist Attack In Srinagar
Officials say a police officer was murdered on Sunday in Srinagar's old city area when suspected terrorists opened fire on him.
Terrorists opened fire from behind on probationary sub-inspector (SI) Arshid Ahmad at Khanyar, gravely injuring him, according to officials.
Ahmad was airlifted to Soura's Sheri Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), where he underwent surgery. Dr Farooq Jan, the medical superintendent of SKIMS, said, "He succumbed to his injuries."
Ahmad was stationed at Khanyar police station and was a resident of Kupwara in north Kashmir.
A CCTV video went viral on social media, showing a lone attacker with a tiny weapon who fired several shots at Ahmad from behind at close range. He bolted from the scene, as other bystanders were observed scooping up the injured cop.

Dilbag Singh, the Director-General of Police, described the situation as unfortunate. According to his statement, A cop was sent to a hospital to check on an accused person, and he had a shot on his way back. He was then sent to a hospital, where he was declared dead.
The criminals engaged in this case have been identified, and they will be prosecuted, according to the DGP.
He also mentioned that the lives taken during the event either by security personnel, civilians, or police, is a matter of serious concern for the people. Those responsible for such terrible crimes have been prosecuted, and our investigators, according to reports are being checked into, with the hopes of resolving it soon.

Terrorists will be held accountable, so his heroic sacrifice will not be in vain. The lieutenant governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, offered his deepest condolences to the martyr's family.
A police officer and a citizen were hurt in the same place on August 3 in a suspected terrorist incident. A constable was injured when terrorists opened fire on a police Rakshak vehicle stationed near Sheraz Chowk in the Khanyar neighbourhood of Old City.
Inspector Pervaiz Ahmad, a police officer with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), was killed on June 22 when militants opened fire on him close to his home in Srinagar's outskirts.
On June 17, an off-duty Jammu and Kashmir police officer was shot and killed near his home in the Saidapora neighbourhood of the Old City.
On Sunday, elected elites were ready to denounce the attack.
The attack was dubbed "a terrible act of mindless violence" by the National Conference.
Mehbooba Mufti felt devasted after hearing about the death of Subinspector Arshid Mir in police department of J&K. he was killed by the militants at khanyar today. . In a tweet, National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah remarked, "May Allah offer Arshid a position in Jannat." The president of the People's Democratic Party, Mehbooba Mufti, also expressed her sympathies.
